SUPER DUPER ANIME SPECTACULAR!

The gang watch Miyazaki' charming pulp action filled directorial debut THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO and the forgotten 2004 brain expanding blast that is MIND GAME.

EVERYONE LOVES BOTH OF THEM WHOLE HEARTEDLY. YOU SHOULD REALLY SEE THEM!

The gang watch a Paul Schrader double bill with the man's directorial debut BLUE COLLAR and his slick written work in the exploitation field ROLLING THUNDER. They discuss the revenge genre, the magic/horror of unions and what weapon they would want if a limb could cut off.

Would Trevor Henderson be willing to take revenge? Will Keenan Marr Tamblyn abide for his crimes? Why does Taj Nabhani have a wheel for a leg? Who is this mysteriously alluring Emily Milling? Jenn Woodall will kill everyone.

EP 21: THE TIGHT VAMPIRE SYNTH SIEGE
April 23, 2012 07:10 PM PDT
itunes pic

The gang watch two early 'forgotten' movies by famed horror meisters John Carpetner and George Romero - the stripped down siege film classic ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and the aimless seventies vampire character study MARTIN. They talk about the nature of low key action cinema, Stephen King and their favourite horror writers, the forgotten films of Tobe Hooper and Wes Craven, and finally a rambling conclusion that goes through the TV version of They Live, the exorcist sequels and the sad late phase career of Dario Argento.

Matthew Kumar busts out the mouth music. Nate 'Nathaniel' Wilson dreams of the day he'll be the star. Jay Clarke loves Sam Raimi. Justin Decloux loses the entire audience to the ROW THREE PODCAST. Trevor Henderson wants Silence to Reign!

EP #20: THE COEN BROS PRESENT: GEORGE CLOONEY'S RIDICULOUS FUCKING MACHINE

"ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!"

THE MOST HYPER! OFF THE WALL! and NUTZOID! episode of the LASER BLAST FILM SOCIETY features...the smallest group of pod-casters yet! Little Nate, Giggly Justin and Straight Talk Trevor are supposed to academically dissect RED ROCK WEST and BLOOD SIMPLE, but instead they veer off the road of sanity, and excitedly rant about Billy Zane, Sam Raimi's tonal impact on the Coens Bros, what FILM NOIR REALLY IS (cause the trio have no idea), Trevor is bored by BLADE RUNNER, Steven Spielberg's 'diasesterpiece' 1941, Justin's surprisingly lukewarm reaction to DARKMAN and a fantasy scenario where a shirtless Patton Oswalt shows up at Trevor's door.

As we say in the podcast - if you listen to this and like it, hate it, or think there should be more singing - LET US KNOW on our Facebook Wall! We appreciate any kind of feedback!

Featuring a special guest appearance by The All Powerful Jenn!

The gang watch JOINT SECURITY AREA (2000) and SHIRI (1999)- two local box office hits that heralded South Korea's return to a booming cinematic industry. Everyone LOVES one and HATES HATES HATE the other. Can you guess which one? YOU HAVE TO THE WONDERFUL LISTEN TO FIND OUT! Along the way the gang cover all the South Korean films they can remember off the top of your head, discuss the the merits of the Japanese film CASSHERN and stumble upon trying to define why SHIRI was such a big hit.

Peter Kuplowsky doesn't like MOST South Korean cinema (WAIT! HE CAN EXPLAIN!). Justin Decloux loves their DVD packaging. Chelsey Anne does NOT want to be defined by her job description. Taj Nabhani sits thoughtfully in the background. Trevor Henderson likes Thai films.

LB #18: THE NEVERENDING NIGHT OF DOOM
March 11, 2012 06:24 PM PDT
itunes pic

"Every scene is a joke without a punchline"

The gang watch the John Landis stinker INTO THE NIGHT (1985) and the classic Scorsese comedy AFTER HOURS (1985). One of them was TERRIBLE. The other was FANTASTIC. Can you guess which was which? ONLY BY LISTENING CAN YOU KNOW THE ANSWER! Oh, and we did call INTO THE NIGHT a stinker in the first sentence. It's a pod-cast filled with ripping into a one man's work, loving THREE AMIGOS (and hating TROPIC THUNDER), and trying our darndest to talk about our own MIDNIGHT ADVENTURES!

BREAKING NEWS: JAY CLARKE HAS SECRETS TO TELL...BUT ONLY IF YOU LISTEN ALL THE WAY TO THE END!

Matthew Kumar has no stories to tell. New kid on the block Lee Ferguson needs to get new friends. Lynx O'Leary wants to know who your favourite character is. Nate Wilson will SEE YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY. Chris Nash is banished to LA. Peter Kuplowsky looks up things on IMDB. Justin Decloux wants to talk to allusions that no one thinks exist.

itunes pic

"That old bearded billionaire's pain IS SO FUNNY TO US."

The gang tackle two Japanese films in one night - The multi-pronged FISH STORY and a film heavily 'inspired' by Star Wars directed by Kinji Fukasaku (BATTLE ROYALE). It ALL leads into a half hour long discussion about what Star Wars means to us, some of us never GETTING that 'Wars in Space' thing (unless jacked on intoxicating substances), and the heart-breaking story of George Lucas blaming EVERY THING ON HIS BITCH OF A WIFE!

Chris Nash admits that he never liked Star Wars. Trevor Henderson likes Jurassic Park. Matthew Kumar feels pity (but not really). Peter Kuplowsky defends Lucas as if the man was up for execution. Justin Decloux can't breathe because he's laughing too hard.

EP #16: "FUCK YOU CLOWNY!" - DOLLS and HOUSE

itunes pic

The gang skip that 'awards thingie' and decide to watch the under-seen Stuart Gordon 'killer little things with hacksaws' film DOLLS (1987) and the kinda-classic horror comedy HOUSE (1986). They talk about the mystique of a good Horror Comedy (Like Unicorns!), the tough act of putting a kid in the lead of a mean-spirited horror film and THERE'S A LOT OF TALK ABOUT R.L STINE'S GOOSEBUMP BOOKS! NEVER ENDING TALK, REALLY. At one point, Justin starts to laugh so hard he can't breathe anymore.

Starring Justin Decloux, Trevor Henderson, Matthew Kumar, Gillian Blekkenhorst, Nate Wilson, Kat Verhoeven, Jay Clarke.

Episode 15: SHAAAAAAKMA!
February 13, 2012 08:09 AM PST
itunes pic

The Three Horror Musketeers (Justin, Jay and Trevor) discuss Mario Bava's Rabid Dogs, Blood and Black Lace and (unsurprisingly) veer off into a long nostalgic reverie about being disappointed by AMAZING VHS covers, the films they'd LOVE to see remade and the quest for a funny pod-cast title. Somehow the subject of the BEST Friday the 13th film comes up. Don't ask us how.

EP 14: "I WAS A GARBAGE-MAN AT CANNES" - PENNIES FROM HEAVEN and PLAY IT AGAIN SAM
February 06, 2012 05:53 PM PST
itunes pic

The gang watch Steve Martin act like a (musical) jerk in PENNIES FROM HEAVEN and giggle at Woody Allen's classic schtick in PLAY IT AGAIN SAM.

How rich do you have to be before you don't have to pay for anything? Peter tells us about being a Garbage Man at the Cannes Film Festival - and MISSING A CALL from Quentin Tarantino, and we all wonder what celebrity we'd love to have as an imaginary friend.

LF 13: PSYCHO 2 and VISITING HOURS
February 05, 2012 09:38 AM PST
itunes pic

The gang watch the much maligned sequel to a classic - PSYCHO 2 - and the great Canadian Tax Shelter stalk-n-slash VISITING HOUR. Along the way they talk about remembering films COMPLETELY differently, Michael Ironside the scary-ass teacher,nd the most useless sequels of all time.

Starring: Trevor Henderson, Justin Decloux and Jay Clarke.

Along the way they discuss what they'd do in the apocalypse (eat their fellow man), the lesser films of John Carpenter and a theoretical dissertation on RATS! NIGHTS OF TERROR!
